Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits he’s unhappy with Willian’s ‘strange’ absence from the club’s pre-season and will speak to the Brazilian this week as a result
Willian resumed training in London yesterday after missing five days from Chelsea’s pre-season tour because he failed to renew his passport in time.
After a solid performance at the World Cup this summer, the 29-year-old has recently been linked with a move to the Blues’ rivals Manchester United. Jose Mourinho is keen to sign the Brazilian forward to solve his right-wing problem and knows all about the player having coached him whilst in charge of Chelsea.
Despite being absent from the team training a week before the start of the Premier League, the Brazilian has yet to speak to Sarri regarding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were beaten on penalties by Arsenal in Dublin last night after a 1-1 draw in normal time and Sarri admitted afterward that he is not pleased with Willian.
The 29-year-old was ordered to return to training on Friday but failed to show up.
Sarri is not convinced that it was a passport issue that held him up in Brazil.

When asked about whether or not he is frustrated by the issue, he said: “I want to speak to him before I answer these questions.
“I don’t know. I want to speak to him.
“I am not happy about the situation but before answering I would like to talk to him.”
Willian would have handed in a transfer request had Antonio Conte stayed at the club, however, after the appointment of their new manager, Willian is more open to staying at the west London under Sarri.
Chelsea have made just one signing so far this season with Jorginho arriving from Napoli and are desperate to sign a centre-back before the transfer window closes on August 9th – before the start of the season.
