Antonio Conte has been ruled out as Madrid’s next manager!

Following last Monday’s news of the sacking of Julen Lopetegui as head coach of Real Madrid, Conte was seen as the most likely to take over after the Spanish manager.

However, the former Italy head coach has surprisingly excluded the possibility of him becoming the new manager at Real Madrid.

According to Sky Sports, Conte decided that this was not the right job for him. Antonio Conte is also being linked to replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United despite having managed Chelsea in the past. Therefore this may also be another reason why the Italian is not that much convinced of joining the Champions League winners.

There is also the speculation that some of the players at Real Madrid, with the two most mentioned being Sergio Ramos and Thibaut Courtois, were very clear when expressing their opinion on Conte taking on the role. This could also be seen as another indication as to why the Italian manager’s decision to reject the position with the European champions.

The last club Conte managed was Chelsea, whom he left at the end of last season following a relatively disappointing campaign finishing with just a Europa League spot. He now, therefore, seems to have decided to extend his break from managing until the next campaign.

At the moment Real Madrid have decided to temporarily appoint Santiago Solari, former head coach at the Real Madrid youth squad and is expected to debut during tonight’s Copa del Rey clash against Melilla. However, according to the Spanish Football Federation’s rules, the Los Blancos need to appoint a permanent head coach within the next two weeks and most probably that will not be Antonio Conte.

Who will it be next?

Should Solari be removed from his interim position as Real Madrid manager the main candidates to replace him include former Real Madrid player Guti, current Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and also Spanish manager Roberto Martinez.

Solari will only be able to manage Los Blancos for the next two weeks

Who do you think will be the Chosen One?
