Route: ALBI – TOULOUSE
Stage type: Flat
Distance: 167 km
The 167km route travels through the south of France against the backdrop of the Pyrenees. It’s been 11 years since the Tour last raced into Toulouse. In 2008 Mark Cavendish took his second stage win of that race in an unseasonal downpour. Having added another 28 to close in on Eddy Merckx’s record of 34, the Briton has slipped down the sprinting hierarchy since being affected by the Epstein-Barr virus two years ago.
*Odds are subject to change.
The roads are gently rolling so a bunch sprint is most the most likely outcome. The finish is near the Capitole de Toulouse in the city centre. As the route features only two moderate climbs in the first half of the course, the enormous building is likely to see a sprint finish at its doorsteps.
Time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds are awarded to the first three riders on the line.
