Pittsburgh have a slim chance of joining others in the AFC

The Pittsburgh Steelers chances are grim after their latest missed opportunity. On Sunday, the Steelers lost grip of their future as they fell 31-28 to the Saints and now need help from other clubs in next weekend’s regular-season finales to reach the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year.

As it stands the Steelers will probably miss the playoffs. Their brutal loss to the Saints leaves them 8-6-1 and on the outside looking in. Pittsburgh went from being No.4 seed to No. 8 and that is not enough to make it to the tournament. So, the only way they will make it through will be with a little luck.

“We’ve still got life,” said cornerbackย Artie Burns. “We’ve still got hope.”

The Steelers would need the Browns to beat the Ravens in Baltimore, and the Steelers would need to beat the Bengals – for a chance to secure the AFC North. It would also mean the Ravens would miss the playoffs in very painful fashion for the second consecutive year on a loss to a division rival.

The Steelers could also make it through if they win, and the Titans and Colts tie in Week 17. However, it is a very unlikely scenario.

If neither scenarios unfold, Pittsburgh will be sitting at home come January.
