Impressive driving from Roglic in Stage 5
Tour of Britain held its first team time trial in Cumbria, England. The course ran 14km in length from Cockermouth until Whinlatter Visitor Centre.
LottoNL-Jumbo crossed the finish line at 19:36.7 granting them first place and their 30th victory as a team. There was also a shakeup up in the overall standings as Primoz Roglic claimed the leader’s jersey and Patrick Bevin slipped down to fourth.
The future is bright for the Dutch WorldTour team. LottoNL-Jumbo have come a long way from the summer of ’16, when they appeared completely lost. The team were struggling for wins and simply making up the numbers. However, 2 years later, and Lotto Jumbo have fundamentally changed their ethos and overall feel. As a result, the team have painted themselves a brighter future.
The team’s transformation has been steered by Richard Plugge – a onetime press officer for the team.
