In an interview with the La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Portuguese superstar made a suggestion to his eternal rival to join him in Serie A.

Ronaldo and Messi spent nine long years fighting for supremacy in the La Liga from 2009 to 2018 and the Juve forward would be open to the idea of extending this rivalry in Italy.

Last summer, Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus in a €100 million transfer and is continuing to show why he is one of the all-time bests in Turin this season.

When asked whether he misses Messi, the 33-year old said: “No, maybe he misses me!

“I played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, in the national team, while he is still in Spain. Maybe he needs me more.

“For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy.

“I would like him to come to Italy one day. Like me, accept the challenge.

“However, if he is happy there, I respect him.

“He is a fantastic player, a good guy but I do not miss anything here. This is my new life and I’m happy.” said Ronaldo.

After ten years of FIFA Ballon d’Or dominance by the two superstars, this year the award was given to Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric and Ronaldo placed second while Messi placed fifth.

This season, Ronaldo already has 11 goals in 19 matches at his first season with Juventus while Messi is still breaking records with Barcelona and already has 17 goals in as many matches across all competitions.

We still don’t know whether this impressive rivalry will repeat itself once again in Italy in the future but what is for sure is the fact that both talismans will continue to perform at their highest level and achieve more success with their clubs in the future.
