Valletta were thrashed black and blue by Astana in their maiden clash which saw the latter mercilessly slot five past the hosts while conceding no more than once.
Date: 15th August 2019
Time: 20:00 CET
Venue: Ta’ Qali National Stadium
The hosts are without a win in their last six games in all competitions and were far from convincing in each of those fixtures. The squad have conceded twice or more in three of those clashes and have not been able to score more than one goal each in their last four games.

On the other hand, Astana have succumbed to a defeat on just two occasions in their last nine games, and have won by a goal difference of three or more goals in three of their previous six fixtures.
Also, Valletta will be without home advantage in this return clash, due to the strong aggregate advantage for the visitors coming into the match.
Last week’s tie saw six goals shared quite unequally between the two teams. Valletta have nothing to lose now and will try to reduce the deficit.
With both sides getting their names on the scoresheet in each of their last five games as well, a high scoring clash is quite expected to unfold at the Maltese National stadium.
