Premier League round-up – Matchday 7 Preview and Predictions

Premier League
Premier League matchday 7.

Another weekend full of Premier League action is getting closer with most matches taking place on Saturday. Then there is the biggest match of matchday 7 between Manchester United and Arsenal on Monday.

The Premier League is maybe the most unpredictable league in the world but not when it comes to Liverpool and Manchester City. The two English giants are actually in a league of their own. Then there’s everyone else, far far behind them.

Premier League
The Premier League standings after the first six matchdays.

Liverpool are already five points clear of last season’s champions, Manchester City. They are also 10 points ahead of Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The only thing that we expect to change this weekend is that either Manchester United or Arsenal (or both if they draw) will fall further behind. Here’s a look at each match between Saturday and Monday.

Premier League Matchday 7

Sheffield Utd. vs Liverpool

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 13:30 CET
Venue: Bramall Lane

Jurgen Klopp and his side travel to play a full of spirit Sheffield United side. The difference in quality here is highly in favour of Liverpool but we expect it to still be very close. Liverpool are first while Sheffield occupy the 10th place in the Premier League standings. Beside long-term injured Alisson, Keita, Clyne and Origi, Klopp will have a fully fit side to select the starting eleven. Sheffield manager Chris Wilder, on the other hand, has no missing players for the fixture.

Prediction: Liverpool win and BTTS Yes

Chelsea vs Brighton

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will be aiming to make amends for the loss to Liverpool when they host Brighton at home on Saturday. It hasn’t been a great start to the Premier League for Brighton, having picked up just 6 points till now. Lampard has some key players out of action due to injury. These include Rudiger, Kovacic, Emerson and Loftus-Cheek. Brighton only have to deal with winger Leandro Trossard’s injury ahead of their trip to London.

Prediction: Chelsea win

Aston Villa vs Burnley

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Villa Park

Coming into this fixture, Burnley can boast of a better position in the Premier League standings after six matches played. Aston Villa lost the opportunity to get their second season win when they lost 3-2 to 10-man Arsenal on Sunday. We expect Villa to put everything into this one as they try to get their first win in over a month. Burnley are fresh of a win against Norwich at the weekend but haven’t been in best form away from home. The only injury here is for Burnley with Danny Drinkwater out on the sidelines.

Prediction: Aston Villa or draw

Wolves vs Watford

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Following the embarrassing 8-0 loss to Manchester City last time out, Watford will be hoping they can reroute. They face Wolves next, a side who’s had a very slow start to the season. Surely not as expected. Wolves have Ofosu-Ayeh out with injury while Deeney will not feature for Watford. Given the current form of the two sides, we think Wolves are going to take home the three points in this one.

Prediction: Wolves win and BTTS Yes

Bournemouth vs West Ham

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Vitality Stadium

The home side will be hoping they can win their third consecutive match when they welcome West Ham on Saturday. West Ham defeated Manchester United last weekend and will have high morale coming into the match. The Hammers are eyeing their fourth consecutive clean sheet, but given Bournemouth’s form upfront, we don’t think they will get their fifth one here.

Prediction: Draw and BTTS Yes

Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham were more than unfortunate not to grab something from their last league match against Leicester City. Southampton experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-1 home loss to Bournemouth last Friday. Spurs will have new signings Lo Celso and Sessegnon out with injuries as well as Juan Foyth. Southampton on the other had have Sam McQueen out with a crucial ligament rupture. Given the Saints’ vulnerability at the back, we believe there is a big value in betting on Kane to score.

Prediction: Tottenham win and Harry Kane anytime goalscorer

Crystal Palace vs Norwich

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 16:00 CET
Venue: Selhurst Park

Following a 3-2 win over Manchester City, Norwich City suffered a 2-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor in their last league match. They take on Palace next, who were shocked by Wolves in the last match leaving them with just one point. No injured players are on the list for any of the two sides. Therefore both Roy Hodgson and Daniel Farke have a fully-fit set of players to choose from. The Canaries have struggled away from home and we expect Crystal Palace to take all the three points.

Prediction: Crystal Palace win

Everton vs Manchester City

Date: Saturday 28th September 2019
Time: 18:30 CET
Venue: Goodison Park

The Toffees suffered a shocking 2-0 loss to Sheffield United at home in their last Premier League match. City thumped Watford in an 8-0 home win on Sunday but lost their last away game against Norwich. Pep Guardiola’s City have a worrying list of injuries in defence with Laporte, Mendy and Stones all out of action. Having said that, however, we believe the Citizens will have the final word and take home the win.

Prediction: Manchester City win and over 2.5 goals

Leicester vs Newcastle

Date: Sunday 29th September 2019
Time: 17:30 CET
Venue: King Power Stadium

The Foxes go into this game brimming with confidence following last week’s win against Spurs. Leicester will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Newcastle at home. The Magpies on the other hand just can’t find their best form since the start of the season. In fact, Newcastle have only 5 points out of a possible 18 and sit just above the relegation zone. We are going for the home side to win it here.

Prediction: Leicester win

Leicester vs Newcastle betting odds

Manchester United vs Arsenal

Date: Monday 30th September 2019
Time: 21:00 CET
Venue: Old Trafford

This match will be closing off matchday 7 and we expect the two sides to tussle for what could be a season-changing 3 points. United aim to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to West Ham United, but their recent performances say otherwise. The Gunners, on the other hand, showed character in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa. Emery’s side came from behind to beat the newcomers with ten men on the field. Both sides have some important men out with injury. United have Luke Shaw and Eric Baily out injured but could welcome midfield superstar Paul Pogba. Arsenal have Frenchman Lacazette unavailable for selection due to an ankle injury. We’re risking it and going for Arsenal to take the win.

Prediction: Arsenal win
