The truth behind Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho
Speaking in an interview on French television channel Canal Football Club, the Red Devils midfielder insisted that he has no problem with Mourinho. Pogba and Mourinho have had many clashes behind the scenes, and they have struggled to get along this season. Despite this, Pogba assuringly said;
“I do not have any problem with Mourinho. I do not think he has [a problem] either. He’s the coach, he’s going to make choices and I, as a player, I accept him. That is all.”
Pogba insists he will not leave Manchester United this summer
France Boss Didier Deschamps has claimed that Pogba couldn’t possibly be happy at Manchester United because of his difficult situation. His agent Mino Raiola has also been rumoured to be looking to find him a new club. When asked about the rumours surrounding him moving from Old Trafford, he insisted;
“For now I’m at Manchester United, I really only think about the present. Transfers are not in my head.”
“Mourinho has made me captain – He gave me the keys, the responsibilities at a great club like Manchester United.”
Pogba has performed inconsistently throughout the season. He was dropped for the two Champions League games with Sevilla and frequently substituted at halftime. Moreover, he was not put in the FA Cup quarter-final with Brighton.
During the interview, Mourinho was asked whether Mourinho explains why he substitutes or drops him. Pogba replied;
“No. It all depends on the coach – there are some who like to talk to the players. He explained; “When Mourinho makes a choice, you have to accept it”
Pogba has endured a difficult relationship with Mourinho and struggled to perform consistently. However, he played exceptionally well against the Spurs in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
“We are in the FA Cup final; I have a World Cup to come,” Pogba told Canal Football Club.
Next up, Manchester United are booked to play in the Wembley Final on May 19th.
