Chelsea want a new striker in January and could move for either Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski or Leicester’s Jamie Vardy to solve their problems, according to reports in the Sunday Express.
The Blues struggled in front of goal again on Saturday in their shock 1-0 home defeat to Leicester.
22/12/2018 – With the January window just nine days away, here are some of today’s top news and rumours from the top leagues all around the world.
INTER THE NEXT DESTINATION FOR RAMSEY?
Aaron Ramsey could be on his way to Inter, with reports suggesting the Nerazzurri are close to landing the Arsenal man on a free transfer.
The Welshman is out of contract next summer, with the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Manchester United all linked with a move for his services.
However, it’s Inter that may have landed the final blow, as La Repubblica reports the Nerazzurri met with Ramsey’s agent on Wednesday to discuss a summer move.
PATO BACK TO AC MILAN?
AC Milan are interested in bringing back former striker Alexandre Pato to the San Siro after failing to land Zlatan Ibrahimović.
According to CalcioMercato, the Rossoneri have turned their attention away from Swedish striker and are looking to re-sign Pato after his spell with the club between 2007 and 2013.
PSG SHOW GUEYE INTEREST
According to Sky Sources in France, PSG are looking into the possibility of signing midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye from Everton.
It is understood the French champions have made their interest known to Everton but have yet to make a formal bid for the player.
Sky Sports understands Everton would strongly resist any interest from rival clubs and have no desire to sell the player but can give in if a big money bid is presented to them by the Parisian club.
SANCHO IN DEMAND
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are keen tabs on Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho, according to Marca.
The heavyweight European trio have been impressed by the England international’s form since arriving in the Bundesliga.
It is understood that any negotiations over a potential move will have to wait until the summer, though.
MOSES TO JOIN PALACE NEXT MONTH
Chelsea star Victor Moses is expected to join Crystal Palace in a £12m deal next month according to The Sun.
The club is ready to sell Moses when the January window opens, with the Nigerian not part of Maurizio’s Sarri’s plans. In fact, the Nigerian has made just five appearances for Chelsea this term.
Moses, who progressed through Palace’s academy before joining Wigan in 2010, would, therefore, be joining one of his former clubs at a more mature stage of his career.
GILBERTO: FRED STAYING AT UNITED
Fred has no intention to leave Manchester United, according to his agent Gilberto Silva.
The Brazilian moved to Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer in a deal in excess of £50m but found first-team opportunities hard to come by under Jose Mourinho.
Fred has subsequently been linked with a move away from United, but former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto told the Daily Star: “The fact that he (Fred) is not playing makes him anxious.
“But what I say to him is that he must keep working hard on a daily basis, he should be patient because the club is going through a delicate moment. But there is no chance of him leaving United. He has a five-year contract.”
FABREGAS TO MONACO THANKS TO HENRY?
Monaco coach Thierry Henry hopes his relationship with Cesc Fabregas can persuade the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder to leave Chelsea and join the Ligue 1 side, according to the London Evening Standard.
JUVE REMAIN KEEN ON POGBA
Juventus seem not ready to give up on Paul Pogba after Manchester United’s sacking of Jose Mourinho, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A champions thought they had a better chance of bringing the France international back to Turin in the summer rather than in January.
Mourinho’s sacking has not changed Juve’s stance, with the Italian club hopeful of signing Pogba in the summer, although the move could hinge on United’s appointment of a full-time manager.

RACE IS ON FOR WERNER
Bayern Munich joined Liverpool and Atletico Madrid to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, reports Bild.
The Germany international has reportedly confessed he can see himself signing for Bayern in the future as his contract at Leipzig expires in 2020.
However, Bayern are yet to make an approach for the 22-year-old but are aware of interest from Liverpool and Atletico and may step up their pursuit in the summer.
Chelsea are keen on signing Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan in a swap deal with Alvaro Morata, according to Sky Italia.
The Argentine played under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, and the Chelsea boss is reportedly keen to link up with the 31-year-old once more.
Sky in Italy understands Morata is keen to return to Italy having previously spent two years with Juventus where he won two Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias.
However, the deal would be complicated by the fact that Higuain is on loan at AC Milan from Juventus.
CHELSEA IN FOR FEKIR?
Superagent Pini Zahavi has been employed by Chelsea to make contact with Nabil Fekir’srepresentatives over the future of the Lyon forward, L’Equipe reports.
Fekir very nearly signed for Liverpool last summer only for the deal to collapse.
Chelsea are now keen on the 25-year-old, although they may have to wait until the summer to try and sign him.
JUVE WANT DE LIGT
Juventus are trying to convince Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt his future is best served in Italy than Barcelona, reports Spanish outlet Sport.
De Ligt won the 2018 Golden Boy award this week and, as a means of pitching the club to the 19-year-old, Juve ensured Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli were sat near him at the ceremony in Turin.
The Italian champions are prepared to pay €75m (£68m) for the Dutch international with Ajax requesting young forward Moises Kean as part of the deal.
KALINIC READY TO MAKE HIS MOVE
Croatia international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic has agreed personal terms and passed a medical ahead of a move to Aston Villa, according to Sky sources.
The 28-year-old will officially become a Villa player on January 1, with the fee understood to be in the region of £7m.
Kalinic – currently of Belgian side Gent – has been a long-term target for Aston Villa.
Villa were close to signing Kalinic last season, but a failure to secure promotion to the Premier League ended their hopes of concluding the deal. They also tried to sign him in 2016 but failed to secure a work permit.
Kalinic, who started his career at Hajduk Split, has been capped 14 times by Croatia and was part of the squad that reached the 2018 World Cup final in Russia. He also featured for Croatia in the 2-1 Nations League defeat to England at Wembley in November.

Manchester City are facing a huge fight to win the £60m battle for Frenkie de Jong – whose agent insists a decision over his future will be made soon, the Mirror reports.
The Ajax midfielder has been linked with a host of European clubs, including Barcelona and PSG, and reports suggest there will soon be a bidding war for the star who has been dubbed the future of Dutch football.
NO LONG-TERM SOLSKJAER ARRANGEMENT
Sky Sports News understands no long-term arrangement has been struck between Manchester United and Molde for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be the permanent manager of the club following his interim stint.
The clubs have agreed on a compensation package for the interim period running to the end of this season, worth less than £1m.
OZIL’S FUTURE ON LOAN
According to The Times, Arsenal will consider loaning out their player next month.
The Mirror say the club are willing to offload the German but could struggle to sell the midfielder because of his wage demands – he is reportedly the highest-paid player at the Emirates on £350,000 a week.
Ozil has started just 11 of Arsenal’s 26 games this season, and was left out of the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in midweek for “tactical reasons”.
RANGERS EXTEND JACK CONTRACT
Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has extended his stay until 2021 at the club, having made over 40 appearances since moving from Aberdeen in June 2017.
