DEFOE TO RANGERS OFFICIAL

Rangers have confirmed the signing of Jermain Defoe on an 18-month loan from Bournemouth.

The 36-year-old is the seventh-highest scorer in Premier League history.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard knows Defoe well having played alongside him at international level with England.

He said: ā€œIā€™m delighted to be able to welcome Jermain to Rangers. He is an exceptionally talented striker and vastly experienced footballer who has scored goals at every club he has played for.”


WAY IS FODEN LEAVING!’

Pep GuardiolaĀ has dismissed a suggestion thatĀ Phil FodenĀ could leaveĀ Manchester CityĀ this month.

Asked about a potential loan for the 18-year-old after City thrashed Rotherham in the FA Cup today, Guardiola said: “No way. Impossible! He is going to stay with us many, many years.”


KUCKA TO JOIN PARMA

Former AC Milan midfielder JurajĀ KuckaĀ is set for a return to Italy and the Serie A TIM and ParmaĀ is the destination.

Currently in Turkey with Trabzonspor, Kucka’s contract with the Turks is of 3 years and 6 months.

An agreement has been reached with the player and only the last go-ahead from the Turkish club is missing for the conclusion of the operation.


PEPE SET TO JOIN MONACO

Monaco will sign a deal with Portugal defender Pepe, who has parted ways with Beşiktaş, according toĀ La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

But Ligue 1 side Monaco will acquire the former Real Madrid defender at no cost since the 35-year-old player is a free agent, at present.


GRABAR JOINS AGF AARHUS

LiverpoolĀ goalkeeperĀ Kamil GrabaraĀ has joined Danish clubĀ AGF AarhusĀ on loan until the end of the season.


REAL MADRID PLOT MOVE FOR ALABA

Real MadridĀ are on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Marcelo for some time but have just not found the right one. They did get Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid but he hasn’t lived up to the expectations.

Diario GOLĀ now reports that Los Blancos are looking to sign David Alaba fromĀ Bayern Munich. The left-back has been on Madrid’s radar for a long time now and the Spanish side are looking to make an ā‚¬80 million move for him.

If reports are to be believed, Bayern are open to the sale as well. They have lined upĀ Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez as Alaba’s ideal replacement.


LOZANO OFFERED TO NAPOLI

Serie A giantsĀ Napoli haveĀ been offered the chance to signĀ Hirving Lozano, butĀ have askedĀ for a discount from Mino Raiola for the ChelseaĀ target, saysĀ Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Gazzetta stateĀ that Mino Raiola’s excellent relations withĀ Italian clubs are helpingĀ himĀ getĀ a move for Lozano, as the Dutch-Italian agentĀ has proposed the winger to Napoli.

LozanoĀ is valuedĀ at about ā‚¬50 millionĀ by Raiola, Napoli have asked for a discount so that theyĀ could thrash out a deal for aboutĀ  ā‚¬35 millionĀ in the next summer’s transfer window.


RANIERI ‘READY’ FOR SIGNINGS

FulhamĀ bossĀ Claudio RanieriĀ could look to the transfer windowĀ after some of his squad players failed to take their chance in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Oldham today.

“The January window is one month and if there is the opportunity to buy somebody, I think the chairman is ready,” said Ranieri.

“I wanted to see the players not involved frequently. I didn’t see the desire, I didn’t see the passion of the Oldham players.”

Asked about reports the club has made an offer forĀ Marko Pjaca, who is on loan atĀ FiorentinaĀ fromĀ Juventus, Ranieri said: “Not true.”


MILAN EVALUATE TIELEMANS MOVE

Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans could be a target for AC Milan in the January transfer window having lost out to the Ligue 1 side in their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has been part of an underachieving Monaco side that went from title challengers to fighting to avoid relegation, with Thierry Henry replacing Leonardo Jardim as head coach.

As the arrival of Fabregas is likely to bring more competition for places in the first team, Sport Mediaset understands Milan could attempt to bring Tielemans to the Stadio San Siro this month.


 

‘SOUTHAMPTON WILL WEIGH UP GABBIADINI BIDS’

Ralph Hassenhuttl has revealedĀ SouthamptonĀ are weighing up bids forĀ Manolo GabbiadiniĀ ahead of a potential exit in the January transfer window.

SampdoriaĀ – Gabbiadini’s former club – are understood to be in talks over bringing back the striker, who has also been linked toĀ Real BetisĀ andĀ AC Milan, according toĀ SkyĀ in Italy.

“Sure [they have had bids], we have to decide and he has to decide where he wants to go,” Hassenhuttl said.

“There are a few teams interested in Manolo, we will have a look and if there’s a result, we’ll tell you.”


CAGLIARI ACQUIRE BIRSA FROM CHIEVO VERONA

After five years atĀ Chievo Verona,Ā ValterĀ Birsa be leaving the GiallobluĀ in this transfer window.

The Slovenian midfielder – now 32 years of age – is one step away from a move toĀ Cagliari. The negotiation is being finalized: the two clubs have found an agreement on the basis of a loan with the right of redemption in case of the salvation of the Rossoblu club.

The Sardinian society will now have to find an agreement with the player, but the negotiation could and should be closed shortly.


CAVANI TO CHELSEA POSSIBLE?

The Blues are believed to have a number of targets in mind to lead their line for the second half of the season and beyond, includingĀ Gonzalo HiguainĀ andĀ Callum WilsonĀ ofĀ AC MilanĀ andĀ BournemouthĀ respectively.

WithĀ doubts over the availabilityĀ of both those players, though,Ā The ExpressĀ suggests that Chelsea will now push ahead with a Ā£50m offer for Cavani.

Maurizio SarriĀ is said to be willing to offload six or seven fringe players this month alone to help fund a deal, with the aim of remodelling his squad before the end of the year.


CELTIC NEAR WEAH LOAN

CelticĀ are close to concluding a deal to signĀ PSGĀ strikerĀ Timothy WeahĀ on loan for the remainder of the season, according toĀ SkyĀ sources.

The 18-year-old – son of Liberia president George Weah – would become theĀ Hoops’ second January arrival after Oliver Burke joined on loan until the end of the campaign from West BromĀ on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen to bolster his striking options during the January transfer window while the Scottish Premiership is on a winter break, with Weah, who joined PSG from New York Red Bulls in 2014, among the club’s targets.


MILINKOVIC-SAVIC TO STAY AT LAZIO

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is “really, really happy” atĀ LazioĀ and will not leave the club during the January transfer window, agent Mateja Kezman insisted.

Milinkovic-Savic was heavily linked with a move during the off-season amid reported interest from the likes ofĀ Real Madrid,Ā Manchester UnitedĀ andĀ Juventus.

The 23-year-oldĀ SerbiaĀ international midfielder, however, remained at Lazio, thoughĀ Serie AĀ duoĀ AC MilanĀ andĀ InterĀ have emerged as potential suitors.

But formerĀ ChelseaĀ striker Kezman said Milinkovic-Savic ā€“ who has scored three goals in Serie A this season ā€“ will stay in the Italian capital this month.

“Sergej is really, really happy at Lazio,” Kezman told lalaziosiamonoi.it. “He showed how much he loves the club and fans by choosing to stay, despite having many offers.


EVERTON EYEING ATALANTA DEFENDER

Reports in theĀ MirrorĀ from late yesterday say thatĀ EvertonĀ are the latest club to join in the chase for young Italian defender Gianluca Mancini. The 22-year-old, currently onĀ Atalantaā€™s books, is no relation to the more famous Roberto Mancini.

ArsenalĀ andĀ Borussia DortmundĀ were previously linked with interest in the player, and Italian sidesĀ Inter MilanĀ andĀ AS RomaĀ have also been mentioned as being in the fray. Manciniā€™s current contract runs until 2023 but after his breakthrough season where he has grabbed the starting role, he is said to be reevaluating his options while Atalanta want to lock him down to a contract extension this summer.


STURRIDGE MAY GET NEW REDS DEAL

Jurgen KloppĀ has refused to rule out a new deal for strikerĀ Daniel Sturridge, according to reports in theĀ Express.

The sometime England international’s current contract expires this summer.

“We don’t talk about things like that. Nothing to say. As long as the boys are here then anything is possible,” said the German when quizzed about the possibility of the 29-year-old still being at Anfield next season.
