Manchester United and Porto are in advanced talks.
According to Sky Sports sources, Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Porto full-back Diogo Dalot. The Reds, who finished the season trophyless are closing in on their first summer signing. Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Less than 24 hours after Liverpool thrilled their fans by announcing the signing of Fabinho from Monaco, it’s now time for Manchester United fans to join in on the party. If widespread reports are believed to be true, Mourinho has given United’s hierarchy the green light to complete the transfer of Diogo Dalot from Portuguese giants Porto. The teenager, who is viewed by many as one of best up-and-coming players in Portugal has one year left on his contract and will cost United £17.4, as per his release clause.
With Antonio Valencia ageing and Italian international Matteo Darmian on his way to Juventus, the signing of Dalot makes perfect sense. In the past, United have also looked at the possibility of signing Arsenal’s Hector Ballerin, Southampton’s Cedric Soares and Alex Sandro. However, Jose Mourinho seems to have decided that his Portugal compatriot is the chosen one.
Portuguese football analyst and scout Tiago Estêvão had this to say about the rumoured transfer –
” Think there’s a good chance of him being the main right-back next season here (at Porto) and FC Porto could make quite a bit more than 20M€ on him in the future, so I find this very weird. Can guarantee he’ll impress….. as long as he gets minutes.”
Asked to list some of his best qualities, Estêvão said –
“Great Physically, Good Defensively, Good Crosser & Versatile”
The Portuguese expert also added the 19-year-old has all the tools needed to be a future superstar.
