Inter Vecino injury update ahead of Milan Derby
Inter Milan examined Matias Vecino on Thursday after the midfielder damaged his right thigh during an international friendly against Japan. The 27-year-old has been reported to have muscular fatigue but is nevertheless a doubt for the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday night.
Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport reports that “The club is confident that if Vecino needs to be kept out, it’ll only be as a precautionary decision, which unfortunately comes at the time of the Derby della Madonnina.”
For Spalletti, Roberto Gagliardini is ready to go, but he will be evaluated on a daily basis by the Berazzurri medical staff, and with Barcelona coming up midweek he won’t be risked if he isn’t 100% fit.
Vecino will need to be ready for the first leg of Inter’s Champions League double encounter against Barcelona, followed by a trip to Lazio, if need be.Spalletti also now has the full squad back in training, following the return of Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez and Joao Miranda from their mini Inter civil war, during a friendly between Argentina and Brazil in Saudi Arabia. This means, Spalletti will have three whole training sessions with the full team before Derby day.
