Icardi currently earns around €4.5 million per year and has his contract expiring in two years time, but his wife and also footballing agent Wanda Nara has been putting pressure on the club to renew her husband’s contract with the Nerazzurri.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, a meeting between the club directors and the Argentine forward will soon be held with the intention to close a deal and get the deal done. This despite the clash between Icardi’s agent and the Nerazzurri at the end of December.

With Beppe Marotta joining the club, the Inter fans are hoping he could use the same strategy used with previous renewals which had proved to be significantly complicated including that of Dybala, Pjanic and Pogba.

Until now, Inter have been able to offer the Inter captain 6 million euros but this was not enough to satisfy his expectations. The Nerazzurri are intended to improve their offer from 6 million euros to 7 million thanks to several bonuses for a contract which would eventually last until 2023.

These figures would be very similar to what Marotta offered to Dybala at Juventus back in 2017 (7.3 million).

Wanda Nara, from her end, has a request of around €8 million but the Inter directors expect the Argentinian and his agent to lower their expectations a bit and come to an agreement for the deal to go through.

For sure, the new contract will include the removal of the striker’s €110 million buy-out clause stipulated in the previous contract signed in 2016 and agreed upon by both parties.

It is very important to keep in mind the fact that since his wife is also his footballing agent, this will play a huge part in the signing of the new contract and will surely affect the choice of the attacker from a psychological point of view.

For sure, January could prove to be a very important month in the career of Icardi.
