Formula One have joined the famous TV series hype as they add a twist to the characters of Westeros.
The first episode of Game of Thrones season finale was aired in the United States on Sunday amid the much-anticipated excitement that the show and its fans bring. F1’s social media team joined the fun by showing a glimpse of what Formula One drivers would look like in the fictional realm.
The most natural F1 character who would fit into the world of Game of Thrones is none other than the 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who is well-known as the Iceman since the early days of his career. The Finn acquired such a nickname from the cool attitude he possesses in and out of the cockpit.

In a post to Instagram on Sunday, F1 adapted two of the series’ most iconic quotes — “winter is coming” and “when you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die” — and portrayed reigning champion Lewis Hamilton sitting on the spikey throne, seated beneath Mercedes’ Three-Pointed Star instead of a coat of arms, while holding a chequered flag (instead of a sword) and surrounded by a stack of tyres.
But will the Brit be sitting on the “throne” by the end of the F1 season? The five-time world champion is currently in the lead of the Mercedes-dominant standings after overtaking his teammate Valtteri Bottas at the Chinese Grand Prix last Sunday.
Mercedes have had quite the start to the 2019 season with its third 1-2 finish in all 3 consecutive races.
It was not the first time Formula One integrated with the iconic TV show. In fact, back in 2017, Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth (Kit Harington and Liam Cunningham) took an unforgettable lap around the Monza circuit in Italy with the F1 Experiences two-seater.
