Fabio Capello claims Ronaldo wants United return

Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is ready for a return to Manchester United. Rumours that the Portuguese captain is unhappy with life at Real Madrid have been swirling for quite some time. However, following Los Blancos Champions League victory, the player himself hinted that his time is coming to an end.

“It has been very nice playing at Real Madrid,” Ronaldo told beIN Sport

“In the coming days I’ll give an answer to my fans, they’ve always been at my side. The future of any one Real Madrid player isn’t important.”

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, Fabio Capello told Sky Italia that a reunion with Jose Mourinho is what he wants next.

“I think that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to go back to Manchester, to play for United and being coached by his compatriot Mourinho.”


Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo worked together during Mourinho’s time with Real Madrid. The experienced manager guided the Spanish giants to three trophies in three years.

Struggling Manchester United are not the only potential destination for Cristiano Ronaldo. French giants PSG are also rumoured to be highly interested in Real Madrid’s all-time top goal-scorer. Despite their interest, Ronaldo’s mum confirmed she would love to see her son return to Old Trafford nine years after leaving.

“I like Paris. I come every now and again,” Dolores Aveiro told French TV. “The last time was when my son received the Ballon d’Or. It was a great honour. when I arrived I was treated well by everyone.

“Convince Cristiano to sign for PSG? To be honest, it wouldn’t annoy me [if he did], but I would prefer him to return to Manchester United.”
