Cristiano Ronaldo to be named Juventus’ MVP
The Old lady forked out an eye-watering €90 million for Ronaldo in July, and it was one of the best moves they made this year.
Before joining the Italian giants, the Portuguese forward was linked with a host of teams across Europe. Bayern was said to be one of those clubs, but Bavarians chief Uli Hoeness has revealed that they believed he was too expensive for his age.
“CR7 is 33 years old, and he would have cost us €100 million (R1.5 billion),” he told Bild.
“We would have taken him for this figure if he was 24 years old.”
Despite his age, Ronaldo has proven otherwise. Ronaldo has scored 10 goals for Juventus at Serie A this season and contributed to 18 strikes in as many matches so far.
Juventus named Ronaldo as their Most Valuable Player in November, and it is easy to see why.
In comparison to his last season at Real Madrid, it took CR7 until Matchday 23 (10 February against Real Sociedad) to notch his 10th in Spain.
“To understand the historical significance of this data, before Ronaldo, Juventus’s last “debutant” who scored at least 10 Serie A goals after the first 14 games was the great John Charles in 1957/58,” Juventus wrote.
