Torres Will Reveal Club In 2 Weeks
Torres’ departure from Europe has been confirmed, and he is close to making a decision on his next move. His father has hinted at a move to Japan is on the cards.
Torres bid farewell to his boyhood club Atletico at the end of the season. But, it wasn’t before he helped Real Madrid win the Europa League 3-1.
According to his father, Fernando Torres will reveal his club in the two weeks’ time. The 34-year-old has played his last match for Atletico Madrid and has been linked with various clubs in Japan and the USA.
The former Liverpool striker’s father Jose says it won’t be long until he reveals the identity of his new club. He stated that his only desire for his son is that he is happy wherever he goes, without expressing a preference for him to move to either Japan or the US. Moreover, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo didn’t want to reveal anything about Torres’ future.
At the same event, Cerezo said: “I’ve been lucky enough that, during his stay here I was vice president and then president, and we have had a fantastic relationship.”
He continued: “At the end of the day, there’s no Atletico supporter who isn’t a Fernando Torres fans as well.”
“I don’t know where he will end up, but I am sure that it will not be in Europe,” Toress’ father said, adding; “ it will be far away. It is not known yet, that he will tell in a short while, [in] two weeks surely.”
With all the heightened anticipation the J. League recently jumped the gun with an announcement regarding an impending arrival in Japan for the World Cup winner, forcing them into issuing an apology.
“Today on the official website of the J.League, a page containing incorrect information regarding a player joining Sagan Tosu was made viewable,” a statement read.
