The defender collapsed with the injury during training
Optimism was quite high! After suffering an ACL injury in his left knee, Milan new signing Andrea Conti was preparing to return to the pitch. In fact, last Saturday Conti played a whole hour in a friendly match between the Milan senior team and Primavera team. However, today the full-back collapsed holding his left knee during a training session. Fear grew that it might be his ACL again!
Milan’s medical report
After taking the necessary tests, Milan posted the medical report on their website. Luckily, it wasn’t the worst news! The report read:
“AC Milan informs that during today’s training session, Andrea Conti has suffered a sprained knee injury, the same knee he underwent surgery on 16th September.
“The diagnostic exams and checks carried out by Professor Herbert Schoenhuber excluded a rupture of the reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) but they have shown a severe sprain to the lateral knee compartment, which will be further evaluated in the coming days.”
Unfortunately for Conti this injury will most probably close a frustrating season ruined by injuries. The 24-year-old moved from Atalanta to Milan
for a fee of €24million. The agile defender impressed in the early stages but his progress stopped with his knee injury. Now, Milan will hope that Conti will be fit and ready for next season.
