Geoffrey Kondogbia to join Valencia permanently
Although next summer’s transfer window is more than six months away, it seems Inter have already negotiated their first summer departure. Midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia who joined the Nerazzurri from Sevilla in 2015 is highly likely to stay with Valencia permanently. The Frenchman has been in superb form ever since he joined Los Che’s on loan earlier this year. The 24-year-old has played a starring role in Marcelino’s team. After 15 matches played, the Oranges find themselves in second place, just 5 points behind leaders Barcelona.
The former Sevilla star marked his return to La Liga with a man of the match performance in Valencia’s 2-2 draw against Real Madrid. From there, things got better and better. So far, Kondogbia has made 13 La Liga appearances scoring 3 goals and assisting 1 in the process. Nowadays, Kondogbia is a far cry from the player he was with Inter Milan. So much so that he is attracting attention from several clubs including Tottenham Hotspurs.
However, Valencia’s sporting director Mateu Alemany has insisted Kondogbia will not be leaving the Mestalla anytime soon.
“We have an option to buy Kondogbia, including the payment details,” Mateu Alemany said.
“Now he is tied to us, and we will make a decision in May, but we’re very happy. If Valencia couldn’t buy him, we wouldn’t have included the option to buy in the deal.”
With Champions League football a real possibility, Kondogbia will most likely have no qualms about staying in Spain.
