Find out where the attacker will spend the 2018-19 season tonight!
Antoine Griezmann is set to reveal his decision on where he will continue his career two days before France begin their World Cup campaign. He made it clear that he wants to finalise his move – if there is one at all – before the start of the World Cup campaign.
The Frenchman was ready to move out of the Wanda Metropolitano last summer but La Liga side’s transfer ban prevented this from happening. Griezmann’s name quickly popped up as soon as the sanction was lifted.
The 27-year-old has a €100m release clause, with Barcelona regarded as likely contenders to pay the hefty amount.
Griezmann, Atletico’s top scorer for the last three seasons, said at a news conference on Tuesday that ‘the decision’ was made but he was not yet ready to go public.
Griezmann said he will let everyone know ahead of France’s World Cup opener whether he will accept a new contract offer from Atletico or push through a €100 million move to the Camp Nou ahead of next season.
Griezmann has reportedly recorded a teaser where he brings up questions many of his fans are asking him.
Griezmann said in the clip: “You’re fed up with all the talk, am I going? Am I staying? How much they will pay me? How much they won’t pay me.
“But the truth is what I am going to say now…”
The clip then fades to black. Griezmann will broadcast his decision tonight at 9:15 p.m. Spanish time (3:15 p.m. ET).
