Juventus cut short celebrations to attend funeral
Despite the rivalry that exists between Juventus and Fiorentina, at the minute of truth, all was forgotten. When Fiorentina cried at the death of its captain, Juventus made everything possible to comfort their counterparts! And these facts from La Nazione confirm the whole truth!
The newspaper reported that despite Juventus had a game in London on Wednesday (against Tottenham), the clan made sure that they try to attend Astori’s funeral, scheduled on Thursday morning in Florence. Therefore, manager Massimiliano Allegri and captain Gigi Buffon decided to pay for a private jet to return to Italy in the early hours.
La Nazione also stated that Buffon told his team-mates that whoever wished to join him on the jet, should meet at 4.30am in the hotel’s lounge. Apparently, all the team showed up. But due to restricted space, only eight members of the team traveled with the private jet. These were Allegri, Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Rugani, Marchisio, Benatia and Pjanic. Later on, Bernardeschi who remained in Italy due to an injury, joined the others at the Basilica.
Besides that, more reports stated that the Juventus players had a reserved path to walk through. The reason was to stay away from Fiorentina fans and cameras. But Buffon refrained to go through this path. Instead, Buffon and the rest passed near the Viola fans as a sign of closeness in that tragic moment.
