The goalkeeper was carried off a spinal bord
Non-league goalkeeper Dan Lincoln was rushed to hospital last Saturday after suffering terrible injury as he tried to save winning goal. The episode happened in the 79th minute as Bognor Regis Town played Truro City and the result was stuck at 0-0. As a result of Lincoln’s injury the game was temporarily suspended as paramedics helped the stricken goalkeeper.
Fortunately, later news emerged that Lincoln had no grave injuries except for the stud-marks across his back. In all there were around nine different stud-marks just below his shoulders. Moreover, Lincoln shared his feelings just after doctors released him from hospital
“Just being released from Hospital now.
“Feeling a little worse for wear, but thankfully no serious or long lasting damage.
“Just a few fresh battle wounds. Nothing like a bit of protection from the officials.”
“I’d like to thank everyone involved in looking after me and attending to me ON and OFF the pitch.”
Despite Lincoln’s heroics, Truro scored from that same action. The game ended in a 2-0 defeat for Lincoln’s Bognor. The National League South team are fighting to keep afloat in their present league.
